All New Skate Classics: Built Extra Tough on the Inside For Skateboarding

This season, we wanted to interpret SpongeBob in a unique way that aligned with the subversive and creative ethos of Vans Skateboarding. Artist Mike Gigliotti of Lotties Skateshop was the perfect partner for the project. Mike’s gritty aesthetic, edgy illustrations, and strong ties to skateboarding’s core provided the perfect lens for SpongeBob’s new look.

Bringing “Off The Wall” style to the coolest creatures under the sea, the Mike Gigliotti for Vans x SpongeBob Skate Slip-On highlights Mike’s art while simultaneously delivering more of what skateboarders need to enable maximum progression. The repositioned DURACAP™ reinforced underlays and fully redesigned uppers, combined with a new two-part foxing tape that features a deeper knurl pattern on the toe, make the new Skate Slip-On durable enough to withstand daily skateboarding abuse. For more board control, the new molded heel counter and internal tongue straps lock in your feet. Even the gum rubber sole that made Vans famous has been elevated with the SICKSTICK™ rubber compound to deliver more grip and boardfeel. Plus, POPCUSH™ energy return sockliners provide superior cushioning and impact protection while helping to lessen leg fatigue for longer skate sessions.

              My dogs love these! This gives them a dedicated 20-40min of dog joy. They often get up halfway thru and switch but whatever makes them happy. They do get STUCK! And can be impossible to open. I now use a dot of olive oil on each level of the screw and then twist it in and out a couple times to distribute the lube so its possible to open when they are done. I find it very important to collect them immediately when they are done and open back up for cleaning. Do not let them dry as it will be very difficult to open.
