Description:
Depression has colonized the world. Today, more than 300 million of us have been diagnosed as depressed. But 150 years ago, śdepressionť referred to a mood, not a sickness.
Does that mean people weren™t sick before, only sad? Of course not. Mental illness is a complex thing, part biological, part social, its definition dependent on time and place. But in the mid-twentieth century, even as European empires were crumbling, new Western clinical models and treatments for mental health spread across the world. In so doing, śdepressionť began to displace older ideas like śmelancholia,ť the Japanese śutsush?,ť or the Punjabi śsinking heartť syndrome.
Award-winning historian Jonathan Sadowsky tells this global story, chronicling the path-breaking work of psychiatrists and pharmacists, and the intimate sufferings of patients. Revealing the continuity of human distress across time and place, he shows us how different cultures have experienced intense mental anguish, and how they have tried to alleviate it.
He reaches an unflinching conclusion: the devastating effects of depression are real. A number of treatments do reduce suffering, but a permanent cure remains elusive. Throughout the history of depression, there have been overzealous promoters of particular approaches, but history shows us that there is no single way to get better that works for everyone. Like successful psychotherapy, history can liberate us from the negative patterns of the past.

Average pillow that might be great for some folks, not for me
Color: White, Size: Queen (Pack of 2)
I should have know this would be like every other pillow I've ever ordered. It's too puffy for me. No give. It claims to offer better support for side sleepers but instead it's giving me kinks in my neck. Not for me. Not adjustable. Not versatile. Standard materials. White. Can't speak to washability and durability as I have had it long and haven't washed it.
fair price for two standard pillows.
I really wish all these bedding companies would stop rolling and vacuum sealing pillows and such.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Comfortable pillows with good support
Color: White, Size: Queen (Pack of 2)
I purchased the EIUE Hotel Collection bed pillows (2 pack) looking for something comfortable and supportive, and overall they’ve been a good addition to my bed. The pillows arrived well packaged and fluffed up nicely after opening.
They feel soft but still provide decent support for sleeping. I’m mostly a side and back sleeper, and these pillows have worked well without feeling too flat. They hold their shape better than I expected and don’t require constant fluffing during the night.
The fabric feels smooth and breathable, which helps keep them comfortable. My only small downside is that they’re slightly softer than what I personally prefer, but that really comes down to personal preference.
Overall, these are comfortable, good-quality pillows that offer nice support and value for the price. I’d recommend them if you’re looking for hotel-style pillows that are soft yet supportive.
