This beautiful lotus shaped "Kobachi" small bowl is from the RYOUKA series of Usukiyaki. The lotus petal design enhances the food as if it were a picture frame. The wavy rim cast shadows on the plate and table, creating a beautiful look.

It is just the right size to hold small portion of appetizers and side dishes. It is also convenient for holding desserts, yogurt, fruit, etc. Placed on top of a larger plate or combined with a Bento box, it can create a more stylish and sophisticated dining presentation.

The lotus shape is inspired by the chrysanthemum plate, the origin of Usuki ware, and arranged in a modern way. The area around Usuki City is known for its beautiful lotus flowers.

Usukiyaki is produced using a technique called "Katauchi" (molding). The sheet-shaped-clay is placed on a plaster mold, and is shaped with the fingers including each petal. This process gives the work a handmade feel that cannot be achieved through mass production, and gives it a stoneware-like appearance even though it is a porcelain piece.

RYOUKA Series
This series was inspired by dignified flowers such as lotus, cherry blossoms, and Kousa dogwood that bloom in the fields and mountains of Usuki in Oita, which is rich in nature.

I did keep my old swivel parquet floor attachment as it fits. haven't used the floor head that came with this one much, so jury is still out. The new powerhead is HEAVY. Takes a while to learn to maneuver it well, but it really gets the deep pile carpet cleaner. Love the longer cord and hose. Overall, happy with the Miele Guard1. The only reason for the 4 stars is because it does take muscle to work the powerhead. Quieter than my old one, which is pleasing to husband.

Expensive but worth it. I used to buy Kenmore's like this and had to take them in every two years to get fixed. The vacuum guy in our town told me that I was wasting money because the Meile (Rhymes with Sheila he said) was so much sturdier and lasted so much longer. I bought the lower end Meile and have never gone back. That first model lasted 10 years with no problems and I traded it in for the model C. That has lasted 20 years and needed work as my kids weren't as respectful with it as they should. I just bought this newer model due to reviews and I am very satisfied. I was able to find a new model that had the box bumped and crumpled. The vacuum is completely fine. The suction is dreamy, the power cord that turns on the rug attachment is encased in the wand so dog hair doesn't get tangled in it. My single wish is that there were more metal parts as plastic ages and cracks. Metal would increase weight. My engineer husband is totally satisfied and looks for opportunities to vacuum. Hard to be mad about that! 😉

I can only offer one star for this review. The vacuum looks nice, comes with a hose, floor attachments and an extendable wand. However, it smelled really bad because it was full of debris. The bag has a nice flapper on the input port, which is good because otherwise all the debris would have come out in transit. The unit and floor attachments appear well built and are surprisingly light weight even when crammed full of hair. The color looked nice underneath the dirt in the plastic bag. Unfortunately, I did not get to use this one because the person before me already did --- extensively. I would rate higher if I did not have to return this one and try again for a new unit. Therefore too early to know if this can be recommended or not.
