Lorenzo Piccioni di Pianogrillo en zijn team persen deze extra vergine olijfolie van de lokale olijfsoort ‘Tonda Iblea’ op hun prachtige wijn- en olijfgaard in Sicilië. De olie is grassig en fris fruitig van smaak, met een hint van verse kruiden, gevolgd door een zacht bittertje en een lekker pittig pepertje in de ‘finish’. Heerlijk om te dippen met brood, over de sla en bij groenten en wit vlees.

In de Chiaramonti (Ragusa) regio in Sicilië wordt het Pianogrillo landgoed al zeven generaties beheerd door familie van baron Lorenzo Piccioni di Pianogrillo. De olijfgaard ligt 350 meter boven de zeespiegel en er zijn olijfbomen van meer dan 800 jaar oud. Er zijn varkens, kippen en ganzen op de boerderij. En dus heel veel olijfbomen, verspreid over het landgoed. Voornamelijk de Tonda Iblea, een lokale olijfsoort. Ze omringen zich met andere soorten olijfbomen, die zijn nodig voor de bestuiving.
