De familie Meintzinger is sinds 1790 eigenaar van het historische landgoed, dat ooit de wijnmakerij was van de bisschoppen van Würzburg. De oudste delen van het gebouw dateren uit de 13e eeuw, waaronder een kruisgewelfde kelder uit 1475. Hier wordt nog steeds wijn gemaakt, zij het met modernere middelen dan 500 jaar geleden. Maar het basisprincipe zal waarschijnlijk altijd hetzelfde zijn. De 9e generatie van wijnmakers, Jochem Meintzinger, staat hier aan het roer en de 10e generatie, Philippe, staat te popelen om het te gaan overnemen. Meintzinger is momenteel in conversie naar biologische wijnbouw.

Meintzinger heeft 35 ha wijngaarden, met name steillagen, aangeplant met silvaner, weissburgunder, grauburgunder, spätburgunder, riesling en bacchus. Uiteraard wordt een gedeelte van de silvaner in de beroemde Bocksbeutel gebotteld, maar de meeste wijnen gaan in een ‘Flute’.

They always enjoy pulling it out and now I can refer back to the characters to remind them of their manners in a more positive way. The only thing is I kinda wish they had used a different animal than pig, since for some reason I don't like saying "don't be like the pigs" (since I don't really want them calling eachother or other kids pigs). But so far it has been fine :) It's also very nice they included "Be kind to animals, they have feelings too." We say that all the time around here since we have kitties. Also the part about table manners is great since we had already been teaching the kids to ask before being excused from the table.
