Blackmagic Videohub Mini 8x4 12G

This compact router is designed for professional SDI systems that require more inputs and outputs while preserving valuable rack space. Built in a two‑thirds rack width chassis, it enables simultaneous routing of SD, HD and Ultra HD signals with zero latency. All connections are based on 12G‑SDI technology, allowing the unit to support every common SDI format up to 2160p60 and making it suitable for both current and future workflows. 

Eight rear‑panel 12G‑SDI inputs provide ample connectivity for cameras, playback devices and auxiliary sources. Each input features automatic multi‑rate detection, enabling SD‑SDI, HD‑SDI, 6G‑SDI and 12G‑SDI signals to coexist on the same device. Four dedicated 12G‑SDI outputs deliver stable, high‑quality signals to downstream equipment, with full SDI reclocking applied on all outputs to maintain signal integrity across longer cable runs and complex installations.

Clean switching is achieved through integrated input re‑synchronisation on all eight inputs. In addition, reference connections for tri‑sync or black burst allow clean switch outputs to be locked to house sync, ensuring frame‑accurate switching in studio and broadcast environments. Clean switching is selected per output rather than per input, allowing the same source to be routed as a clean feed to one destination while remaining a direct feed to another.

The front panel is optimised for fast, confident operation. Dedicated routing buttons enable cut‑bus style switching without external control panels. A front‑panel 12G‑SDI input provides an emergency patch point for temporary or unexpected equipment, automatically overriding one rear input. A mirrored 12G‑SDI output is also available on the front, alongside a USB‑C webcam output that allows professional SDI video to be connected directly to computers for streaming, conferencing or capture. 

Ethernet connectivity enables full remote control using the Videohub software control panel for macOS and Windows, as well as compatibility with hardware control surfaces. USB‑C is used for firmware updates and configuration. With its balance of size, routing capacity and clean switching capabilities, this model is ideally suited for OB vans, flypacks and compact studios that demand flexibility without compromise.
