The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace werd in opdracht van de Royal Armouries geschreven om de overgang van het ene millennium naar het andere te markeren. De muziek reflecteert op het verstrijken van ‘de meest door oorlog verscheurde en destructieve eeuw in de menselijke geschiedenis’ en kijkt hoopvol uit naar een vreedzamere toekomst. The Armed Man is opgedragen aan de slachtoffers van het Kosovo-conflict, waarvan de tragedie zich ontvouwde terwijl het stuk werd gecomponeerd. Het werd voor het eerst uitgevoerd in 2000 door het London Philharmonic Orchestra en het National Youth Choir of Great Britain, onder leiding van Jenkins zelf. Een raamwerk voor het werk is de traditionele katholieke mis, maar de teksten zijn afkomstig uit allerlei delen van de wereld en uit verschillende religies en culturen. Love these!

We use these quite often. I try to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible and not only are these the best value we have found for compostable plates, they are also more sturdy than traditional paper plates. I don't think I will ever go back to non compostable plates.
