Al palato è fresco e armonico, con una piacevole morbidezza bilanciata da una spiccata acidità.È durante gli anni '80 che, dopo un lungo periodo di sperimentazione, Ruffino ha introdotto uno chardonnay in purezza nel suo prestigioso portafoglio. È così che nasce il “Libaio”, bianco che con la sua freschezza e mineralità unisce la vocazione del territorio senese all’eleganza del varietale. Le uve, provenienti dalla Tenuta La Solatia, situata vicino al borgo medievale di Monteriggioni, vengono vinificate e successivamente lasciate maturare in grandi vasche di acciaio a temperatura controllata, contenitore ideale a preservarne la naturale fragranza.
Ottimo anche come aperitivo, si sposa bene ai piatti a base di pesce ed è ideale in accompagnamento alle verdure.
