Handmade wool rug measuring 9 ft 6 in x 6 ft 4 in (293 cms x 196 cms approx.), originally hand woven in the town of Kayseri, located in Central Anatolia, Turkey. Kayseri has a long and rich history as one of the finest carpet making Villages in the region. In order to achieve the intricate floral designs for which carpets are renowned, these rugs are often woven from natural, locally sourced sheep wool on a cotton foundation. Hand spun wool and natural dyes are used in the majority of Kayseri rugs. This Rug is woven in a Floral Medallion Motif design with a strong central panel in pale red and floral motifs in Pale Pink, Pale Blue and Red / Brown on a Cream/Ivory base.
This rug has been naturally sun faded and the pile reduced to facilitate ease of placement under furniture and cleaning. This rug is, however, still very substantial, weighing over 16 kgs and is suitable for use under furniture or in high traffic areas
