Висвітлені у першій книзі роману події відбувалися за життя наймогутніших в османській історії героїнь доби 'Жіночого султанату' — Сафіє, Халіме та Кьосем, які були причетні до палацових змов та інтриг. Усе це відбилося на долі Османа Другого та його коханої Мелексіми.
