The Trailing Frontier is a region full of contradictions. It is both a safe province and a potential battleground where Humanity may face its final struggle against the K’kree of the Two Thousand Worlds. It serves as both a backwater and a frontier. Half of the area lies within the Third Imperium, while the other half is occupied by minor states and independent worlds. Beyond it lies the domain of the Lords of Thunder, militant herbivores determined to eradicate all meat-eaters.

The Imperium sees the Gateway sector as critically important from a strategic standpoint but lacks the resources to fully control it. Instead, numerous entrepreneurs and small-ship owners cross into this border region, hoping to find fortune and perhaps even glory. With few Imperial regulations, the Trailing Frontier is a place to take risks and make quick escapes. It’s a hunting ground for pirates and mercenaries, a prime opportunity for merchants and adventurers, and a perilous area for the unwary.
