'Потоп'  — історичний роман-епопея польського письменника Генрика Сенкевича (1846 – 1905), лауреата Нобелівської премії з літератури (1905). Це друга частина історичної трилогії, куди також входять романи 'Вогнем і мечем' та 'Пан Володийовський'. Сюжет 'Потопу', заснований на історичних подіях, пов'язаний з так званим Шведським потопом, коли до Речі Посполитої вторглися шведи (1655—1660).

Час дії роману триває з 1654 по 1657 рік. На тлі широкої панорами життя Речі Посполитої середини XVII століття автор детально описує хід війни, на першому етапі якої, в результаті численних зрад польських магнатів, шведи практично без зусиль захоплюють країну. Велику увагу в 'Потопі' приділено героїчній обороні Ясногорського монастиря, де зберігається особливо шанована в Польщі Ченстоховська ікона Божої Матері, і взагалі тій ролі, яку ця оборона зіграла в підйомі національного духу. Цей опір привів, зрештою, до відродження Речі Посполитої і повного вигнання загарбників.

У цих драматичних історичних подіях бере безпосередню участь молодий полковник Анджей Кміциц, який на початку Шведського потопу прилучився до прошведських сил, проте потім перейшов на сторону патріотів і численними військовими подвигами спокутував провину. Багато в чому цим він міг завдячити своїй нареченій Оленьці Білевич…

I am using an old stand from one of the previous frothers but, as this frother is much heavier, it keeps falling down. It would be nice to have a stand that fits this frother! Other than that, so far, it is the best frother I have ever had!
