About: In her richly textured oil and cold wax paintings, Caroline explores the minutiae of surface detail found on immense geological formations shaped by continual change, transformation, and loss over time.
She is drawn to ancient lines found in natural surfaces, particularly fragile coastal geology, seeing them as quiet records of history that hold the memory of the land and the life it has witnessed. Working in oils and cold wax, Caroline builds up layers into which she presses textures, reveals marks, and incises lines. This slow, physical process reflects ongoing life cycles of growth, erosion and renewal. In a time of environmental uncertainty and rapid change, her work offers a space to slow down and pay close attention to what is around us.
