The scabbard has lost all of its finish but has toned to a nice dark gray steel color that complements the fittings of the bayonet. The scabbard is marked with the serial number 3442, and the reverse is marked 43ddl, the date, and code for the maker Josua Corts & Son (Remscheider Hobelmesserfabrik). The blade is excellent. It is also marked with the serial number 3442 on the obverse and 43ddl on the reverse. Overall, I would say this bayonet is a strong very good.
