El libro de los Espíritus forma parte de la Codificación Espírita, y se considera una de las cinco obras fundamentales del Espiritismo. Fue publicado por el pedagogo francés Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail, bajo el seudónimo de Allan Kardec, el 18 de abril de 1857. Fue el primer libro espiritista y sigue siendo el más importante, porque aborda de primera mano todas las cuestiones desarrolladas posteriormente por Allan Kardec. El libro está estructurado como una colección de preguntas sobre el origen de los espíritus, el propósito de la vida, el orden del universo, el bien y el mal, y el más allá. Sus respuestas, según Kardec, le fueron dadas por un grupo de espíritus que se identificaron como "El Espíritu de la Verdad", con los que se comunicó en varias sesiones espiritistas durante la década de 1850. Kardec, que se consideraba más un "organizador" que un autor, agrupaba las preguntas y sus respuestas por temas, incluyendo en ocasiones digresiones más extensas que los espíritus le habían dictado sobre temas concretos.

The stickers that label the parts are impossible to remove and if you do get them off theres a lot of residue left behind.
