The Down Heads have been fashioned from ebonised boxwood and boxwood, and truly represent excellent value for money. They are crafted and finished in the same factory as some of the world’s finest chessmen, with the very same talented craftsmen carving these that create our luxury chess pieces.

We have matched these super little chess pieces with an excellent quality chessboard produced by reputable chessboard manufacturer, Rechapados Ferrer of Spain. Using quality walnut and maple veneered construction and modern fabrication techniques, they have produced a playing field with sharp lines, meticulous detailing and a modern look with clean lines.

This lovely little chessboard is also a perfect companion for our hand-crafted, solid sheesham and boxwood draughts (checkers) box set. The hinged box is constructed from solid sheesham, wax-polished and lined with green felt. The hidden magnetic closing mechanism allows for clean lines on the box. The draughts pieces themselves are constructed from solid boxwood and ebonised boxwood and are naturally wax polished.

Whilst your draught pieces are in play, we have also added a chess piece box. A simple yet elegant wooden box, the perfect place to store your chessmen. Crafted in Europe from birchwood, this box is of excellent quality.
