Why Selective Yellow? While a white beam is perfect for the open trail and for optimizing distance/output, the main disadvantage is that its high color temperature reflects off particulates (dust, rain, fog) in the air, so the light shines back towards the driver, making it difficult to see. The Selective Yellow lens reduces glare, allowing you to maximize visibility during tough driving conditions.
