This is the same set that graced the 2018 Carlsen–Caruana match and has been used in the previous three World Chess Championship matches. Expertly crafted from high-grade boxwood, the dark pieces undergo a chemical ebonization process, giving them the appearance of ebony at a fraction of the cost.
The set is paired with a stunning wenge chessboard, also designed by Pentagram. This official World Chess Championship chessboard is used in every World Chess Championship event.
Crafted from the finest wenge and maple veneers, the 50cm chessboard features the World Chess Hexagon logo inlaid on both sides.
For added protection when not in use, the chessboard comes with its own storage bag.
