Bicolor Dwarf Angelfish – Centropyge bicolorOverview:
The Bicolor Dwarf Angelfish is a striking marine species, easily recognized by its vivid blue front half and bright yellow rear half, creating a dramatic two-toned appearance. Its bold coloration and active swimming behavior make it a standout in reef and fish-only tanks.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including areas around the Philippines, Indonesia, and northern Australia, typically inhabiting coral-rich reef slopes and lagoons.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – enjoys a varied diet of marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality angelfish pellets or frozen foods. Supplement with nori sheets or algae-based foods to enhance color and overall health.
Tank Mates:
Best suited for peaceful to semi-aggressive fish. Territorial toward other dwarf angelfish; keep singly unless housed in a very large aquarium. May nip at soft and LPS corals in reef tanks.
Aggression:
Semi-aggressive – active and occasionally territorial, particularly in smaller tanks.
Experience Level:
Intermediate – hardy but requires stable water conditions and a mature aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Salinity: 1.020–1.025
