This is really an amazing coat and even though it is not in anyway perfect it is the exception to my almost perfect rule as it is so stunning and rare it had to go up! It is hand dyed cotton plush in a brilliant blue - I cannot even imagine the process to get fabric this color in that time! A hand done crewel work flower and vine motif trail down the front of the coat and around the collar. It is also all along the inner edge of the front so if it happens to open you would have seen the same design. Each sleeve is pointed and quite wide at ts end. It is cut rounded and with extra panels inserted near the wrist to give it that flare. A braided tie belt is attached at the back, while the back itself is a work of art with it flat pleating. Edwardian or earlier this is a spectacular piece for the collector, museum or lover of vintage textile. It does have flaws but is still structurally sound and could be worn. Many of the twenties pieces I will be listing over the next week or so came from the same estate that† an important labelled Worth cape was found. All of the pieces were carefully stored and are in extraordinary condition. The fabrics are strong and wearable and all are high end, excellently constructed garments.

The coat is fully lined in striped cotton, almost canvas like fabric and it deteriorating as pictured. The coat is sold as found and the interior does show the accumulation of the years. The exterior velvet has spots where it has rubbed off and the base fabric shows through - this actually adds to the beauty of the coat I think. One of the wood accents on the belt is long gone. The edging inside each sleeve is present but just band of horizontal threading. It closes with metal buttons with interesting over sized looped backs. It has a good weight to it but is not too unwieldy to wear. Hand finishes. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect! It is after all over 100 years old!

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated wil love and care. ★★★★☆ Thick Silicone Moisturizing Socks I ordered these silicone moisturizing socks to try for dry heels. Unlike typical fabric spa socks, these are made entirely of soft silicone and are noticeably thicker and very stretchy. When I first took them out of the package there was a visible fold line in the silicone. It appears to be from how they were folded in the packaging rather than a defect in the material. The silicone itself feels durable and flexible. The design works like a full silicone sleeve that traps moisturizer against your skin. I applied Aquaphor first and then slid these on so the moisture stays in contact with the skin longer. One thing I noticed right away is that the silicone feels cool when you first put them on, which is actually pretty comfortable. The bottoms have a zig-zag textured pattern that gives some grip if you need to stand briefly, though these seem better for relaxing while moisturizer absorbs rather than walking around much. The ankle opening is the tightest part of the sock. It stretches, but it’s noticeably snug compared to the rest of the silicone, which helps keep them from sliding off. For sizing reference, I wear a women’s 7.5–8 shoe and the size Large fits comfortably. There’s plenty of stretch and I can wiggle my toes easily, so they should accommodate larger feet as well. They’re also easy to clean. After using them you can simply wash them with soap and water and let them dry completely before storing or using them again. Overall these appear well made with thick silicone and plenty of stretch. If you use moisturizing socks or heel treatments, these work well for keeping lotion in place while your feet absorb it. Since this set comes with two pairs for about $10, the price seems pretty reasonable for something reusable like this.
