Patented Hydraulic Suspension System

Adaptive dampening that absorbs 43% more road vibrations than traditional spring mechanisms

The HKM-F5S features a proprietary hydraulic suspension system—protected under international patents—that fundamentally outperforms conventional spring-based designs. Laboratory testing confirms a 43% improvement in vibration absorption across a broad frequency spectrum (5–80 Hz), translating to measurably smoother rides on cobblestone streets, cracked asphalt, and uneven sidewalks.

Unlike passive spring suspensions that exhibit linear compression behavior, the HKM-F5S hydraulic system employs velocity-sensitive dampening valves. At low compression speeds—such as those encountered during gentle undulations—the system provides plush, compliant travel. At higher compression velocities—triggered by potholes or sharp bumps—the dampening firms progressively, preventing harsh bottom-out events. This adaptive characteristic ensures ride stability across diverse urban terrain without manual adjustment.

The sealed hydraulic cartridge requires no maintenance under normal operating conditions and is rated for over 10,000 miles (16,093 kilometers) of service before recommended inspection. Internal fluoropolymer seals minimize stiction, ensuring consistent response throughout the suspension's operational life.

  • 43% greater vibration absorption vs. spring suspensions
  • Velocity-sensitive dampening with progressive firmness
  • Sealed cartridge design—maintenance-free operation
  • 10,000+ mile (16,093+ km) service rating

8-Inch Pneumatic Tires with Enhanced Traction

Optimized for wet/dry grip, reduced rolling resistance, and extended battery efficiency

The HKM-F5S rides on 8-inch (20.3 cm) pneumatic tires engineered with a multi-compound tread formulation. The center rib features a low-hysteresis rubber compound that minimizes rolling resistance for maximum range efficiency, while the shoulder blocks utilize a higher-grip silica-infused compound for confident cornering traction on both wet and dry surfaces.

Pneumatic construction provides inherent shock absorption beyond what the suspension system alone can deliver. The air-filled chambers act as secondary dampeners, filtering out high-frequency micro-vibrations that solid or honeycomb tires transmit directly to the rider. Each tire is rated for inflation pressures between 35–50 PSI (2.4–3.4 bar), allowing riders to fine-tune ride characteristics—lower pressures for enhanced comfort on rough terrain, higher pressures for maximum range on smooth pavement.

The tread pattern incorporates directional siping grooves that channel water away from the contact patch, reducing hydroplaning risk during wet-weather riding. A puncture-resistant casing layer beneath the tread provides additional defense against road debris without adding significant weight.

  • Multi-compound tread: low-rolling-resistance center, high-grip shoulders
  • Pneumatic air chambers for secondary vibration dampening
  • Directional siping for superior wet-weather water evacuation
  • Puncture-resistant casing with anti-debris layer

Aerospace-Grade Lightweight Architecture

34.2 lbs (15.5 kg) total weight with uncompromised structural integrity

Weighing just 34.2 lbs (15.5 kg), the HKM-F5S achieves an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio through the use of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy in its primary structural components. This aerospace-grade material—the same alloy specification used in aircraft fuselage frames—delivers tensile strength exceeding 45,000 PSI (310 MPa) while maintaining a density approximately one-third that of steel.

The frame undergoes a precision TIG welding process followed by post-weld heat treatment to restore material properties in heat-affected zones. Each frame is then subjected to finite element analysis (FEA) validation and physical load testing at 2.5× the rated maximum load capacity of 265 lbs (120 kg), ensuring a substantial safety margin.

The folding mechanism employs a dual-locking parallelogram hinge machined from billet aluminum. This design distributes stress across four independent shear planes, eliminating the single-point failure risk inherent in simpler folding designs. The folded dimensions of approximately 42 × 17 × 19 inches (107 × 43 × 48 cm) allow convenient storage in compact urban living spaces, under desks, or in vehicle trunks.

  • 6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum alloy frame
  • Dual-locking billet aluminum folding hinge
  • FEA-validated frame with 2.5× load safety margin
  • 265 lbs (120 kg) maximum rider load capacity

30° Grade Climbing Capability

Torque-optimized motor tuning conquers steep urban inclines effortlessly

The HKM-F5S confidently tackles 30-degree inclines—a capability that places it in the upper echelon of lightweight electric scooters. This performance is achieved through a combination of torque-optimized motor winding geometry, a high-current controller capable of delivering peak phase currents exceeding 18A during demanding climb scenarios, and the rear-wheel-drive configuration that maximizes weight transfer to the driven wheel on ascending slopes.

During sustained climbs, the thermal management system actively monitors motor winding temperature through embedded thermistors. If temperatures approach safe operating limits, the controller gradually reduces power output rather than abruptly cutting assistance—providing predictable, safe behavior on long ascents such as parking garage ramps or hilly urban neighborhoods.

The traction-focused engineering extends to the tire contact patch optimization. At the recommended inflation pressure, each 8-inch tire maintains approximately 4.3 square inches (27.7 cm²) of ground contact, ensuring sufficient grip to transfer motor torque to the road surface without wheelspin on dry pavement at grades up to 30°.

Ergonomic Design Philosophy & Intuitive Controls

Streamlined silhouette with rider-centric comfort and precision handling

Every touchpoint on the HKM-F5S has been refined through iterative ergonomic testing. The handlebar grips feature a dual-density thermoplastic elastomer construction—a firmer inner layer for structural stability and a softer outer layer with micro-texturing for tactile comfort during extended rides. The grip diameter of 1.34 inches (34 mm) accommodates a wide range of hand sizes while minimizing fatigue on commutes exceeding 30 minutes.

The thumb-operated throttle employs a Hall-effect sensor for contactless, wear-free operation. Its progressive response curve has been tuned to provide fine control at low speeds—critical for navigating crowded sidewalks or tight spaces—while delivering confident acceleration when wider throttle openings are requested. An integrated LED display provides real-time feedback on speed, battery state-of-charge, riding mode, and estimated remaining range.

The deck surface incorporates a multi-layer grip tape with an embossed hexagonal pattern that channels water away from the rider's shoes in wet conditions. Deck dimensions of approximately 20.5 × 6.7 inches (52 × 17 cm) provide ample foot placement flexibility while maintaining a compact overall footprint. The deck-to-handlebar height has been optimized for riders between 5'1" and 6'5" (155–196 cm), ensuring a natural upright riding posture.

Sixth-Generation HKM-Series Technology

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common inquiries about the HKM-F5S

What is the real-world range of the HKM-F5S?

The HKM-F5S delivers a tested range of 34.2 to 36.9 miles (55.0 to 59.4 kilometers) per full charge under standard riding conditions—flat terrain, 165 lbs (75 kg) rider weight, moderate ambient temperature, and mixed-speed riding. Actual range varies based on rider weight, terrain gradient, ambient temperature, tire pressure, riding style, and wind conditions. Aggressive acceleration, sustained high speeds, and frequent stops will reduce range accordingly. In our testing, a 200 lbs (91 kg) rider on moderately hilly terrain achieved approximately 29–31 miles (47–50 km).

How does the hydraulic suspension compare to spring suspension?

Laboratory vibration analysis confirms that the HKM-F5S's patented hydraulic suspension system absorbs 43% more road vibration energy compared to traditional coil-spring suspension designs across the 5–80 Hz frequency range. The key differentiator is velocity-sensitive dampening: spring suspensions exhibit linear compression behavior regardless of impact speed, whereas the hydraulic system firms up progressively during high-speed impacts (such as potholes) while remaining compliant during low-speed undulations. This adaptive behavior provides both comfort and control without requiring manual adjustment. Additionally, hydraulic systems do not suffer from spring fatigue or sag over time, maintaining consistent performance throughout their service life.

Can the HKM-F5S handle wet conditions?

Yes, the HKM-F5S is engineered for reliable operation in light rain and damp conditions. The motor hub and electronic components carry an IP54 rating, indicating protection against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. The directional siping grooves in the pneumatic tires actively channel water away from the contact patch to maintain traction on wet pavement. However, as with any personal electric vehicle, we recommend exercising caution in wet conditions—reduce speed, increase following distance, and avoid standing water deeper than 2 inches (5 cm). The scooter should not be submerged in water or operated in heavy downpours.

What is the maximum rider weight capacity?

The HKM-F5S has a maximum rated rider load of 265 lbs (120 kg). This rating includes the rider's body weight plus any carried items such as a backpack or bag. The frame has been physically load-tested at 2.5× this rating—approximately 662 lbs (300 kg)—as part of our safety validation protocol, ensuring a substantial safety margin. Riders approaching the maximum load rating may experience slightly reduced range and climbing performance compared to the standard test conditions.

How long does the battery last before needing replacement?

The 21700-grade lithium-ion cells in the HKM-F5S battery pack are rated for approximately 800 full charge cycles before capacity degrades to 70% of the original 648Wh rating. At an average usage pattern of three full charges per week, this translates to roughly 5–6 years of service before reaching the 70% threshold. Even at 70% capacity, the battery continues to function—it simply provides proportionally reduced range (approximately 24–26 miles or 39–42 km per charge). The integrated BMS actively manages cell balancing and prevents conditions that accelerate degradation, such as deep discharge and overcharging. For optimal longevity, we recommend storing the scooter at 40–60% charge state when not in use for extended periods.

Is the HKM-F5S suitable for hilly urban areas?

Absolutely. The HKM-F5S is rated for 30° grade climbing, which corresponds to approximately a 57.7% slope—steeper than the vast majority of paved urban roads. For context, San Francisco's steepest streets average around 17–18° (31–32% slope), with the absolute steepest sections reaching about 22° (40%). The HKM-F5S can comfortably handle these conditions with its torque-optimized 350W motor, rear-wheel-drive traction advantage, and high-current controller. During sustained climbs, the thermal management system actively monitors motor temperature and adjusts power output gradually to prevent overheating, ensuring safe operation on long ascents.

Arthurian Fae Quest…say less.
Format: Kindle
A fae centered Arthurian tale unlike any I’ve read so far. The author did a great job at descriptive world building, with scenes easily playing out in my minds eye. There was plenty of action, suspense, and even a touch of horror. An enemies to lovers, slow burn romance, a quest, with plot twist and turns aplenty. There was a love triangle, which I’m not usually a fan of but, it played out well in this story line. The FMC, Morgan Pendragon, was so blatantly naïve, yet I typically expect as much in a ‘book one’ of a series, especially one that features a fairly sheltered princess. I was happy to read that in spite of this, she still showed a strong sense of morals, fire, and spine. Now our MMC? Kairos Draven, aka Void’s Edge. Oh, how I’m a sucker for a smoking’ hot grumpy warrior alpha with a witty mouth, and a strong sense of “touch her and die” attitude, so you know who held all my cards. That ending? Just made me swoon all the harder. Now add a battlecat that rivals the size of a horse…and well Ms. Briar Boleyn you have well and truly stolen my heart. I’m excited to see where the story goes from here, and follow along to see more of the characters growth. I went into this story fairly blind, and I think I enjoyed it all the more because of it. Once the story got going, it had me in an absolute chokehold and it was difficult to put down.

Not a bad start
Format: Kindle
3 stars Thank you Netgalley and Briar Boleyn for the ARC! A camelot/king Arthur retelling with fae. I was hooked by the idea of this book immediately and was eager to jump into this world. • slow burn • enemies to lovers • who did this to you Morgan Pendragon watched her mother die by her father's hand when she was just eight years old, hiding under the bed. Morgan is believed to have the tainted blood of the fae in her veins and is cast aside so that her fathers illegitimate son, Arthur, can become the king. She's seen his cruel treatment of the fae firsthand, so when he sends her on a journey to find a fae weapon she seizes the opportunity to do more with her life. Along the way, she finds more than she could have imagined. I don't know a whole lot about King Arthur and Camelot but I had a lot of fun with this story! The plot has some similar tropes to popular romantasy books (From blood and ash) but there's enough originality here that it doesn't feel like I'm reading a copy. I liked how the fae were different in appearance than what is typical in most fantasy books I've read. In this book they have blue hair, violet skin and a wide range of other characteristics. I thought that the world building was easy to follow and I could easily immerse myself into this world. After reading the blurb I kept wondering when she was going to go on the journey to find Excalibur and it doesn't happen until around the 45% mark. The story is a bit slow at times but starts to pick up once they begin their journey to find Excalibur. The John Wick style Inn was a fun concept that I enjoyed reading about. There are a lot of similarities to this and FBAA and I would have liked to have it be a little more different, but I'm hoping book two will have the story turn into something of its own. Overall I enjoyed reading this story and I'm looking forward to reading book two especially after that ending.

Right from the start, I was drawn in by the prologue!!!
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Queen of Roses (Blood of a Fae #1) by Briar Boleyn Genre General Fiction ( Adult), Romance, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Dark Romance “More primordial than the stars. My name was on his lips as he promised unspeakable darkness to any who came between us.” Right from the start, I was drawn in by the prologue!!! I’m a big fan of “touch her, and you die” vibes, but I mean, what’s also not to love about a unique Arthurian retelling with gender twists, a treacherous royal court, a dangerous quest, magical Fae & mystical monsters, entwined with a bit of spice! Morgan, Princess of Pendrath and true heir to the throne has spent most of her life dimming her light to feel safe and to make others comfortable. She is treated as an outcast in the court and repressed by her family due to the blood of the Fae within her and forced to join the Temple of the Three as a priestess in training to one day replace Merlin. Her brother, King Arthur, who reminds me of Joffrey from Game of Thrones, later tells her that he has other plans and offers her a choice of the Temple or to marry her off for political gain, unless… that is, she can journey through the great unknown and return with a long-lost fae weapon with enchanted powers known as Excalibur. Her quest begins with a roguish crew that includes the mysterious, arrogant, and heart-tuggingly handsome Captain of the Royal Guard, Kairos Draven, whom she can’t decide if she wants to stab or indulge in pleasure with. Along the way are plenty of surprises, mystical creatures, and betrayal, all while Morgan uncovers more of the truth about herself and who she can trust. This book had intriguing storylines and lovable characters that kept me turning pages and wanting more. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds and comes together in book 2, Court of Claws, which I just started reading!! Read if you’re into- Dark Fantasy/Romance Slow–Burn Question Everything Magic and Action Fae Arthurian Legend Stabby/Broken FFC Morally Gray MMC Forced Proximity Queen of Roses is perfect for Holly Black, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and Sarah J. Maas fans. Please check the trigger warnings page in the table of contents before reading this book.

3.5 stars, A little boring to say the least.
Format: Kindle
Wow so I'm not sure where to begin on this one. This was a very different take on the legend of Arthur and Excalibur. This is told from the point of view of Morgan the sister of Arthur. Honestly the first 50% of this book is world building and character building which unfortunately was super boring for me. Morgan to me was a female MC that had a hard time in believing in herself. Sometimes taking too long to understand exactly what was going on around her. Draven was also a different male MC, like I couldn't put my finger on him and what he was all about. It was not until the last 10% of the book did we get some answers on the mystery that is Draven. The other 50% of the book centered around this big journey with everyone having a different motive. We see a spark of magic around this time that had me excited but then we never expanded upon that and what it could mean for the female MC. I feel like I want to read the second book just to see where this goes, but the spice was probably a 2 out of 5. Side characters are ok, Lancelet was fun but I almost felt like I wanted more.
