HDR10+

The PlayerOne 8K is compatible with HDR10+ technology. HDR10+ is the latest and most advanced HDR technology, building upon HDR10 to further enhance the viewing experience. HDR10+ signals not just the dynamic range (the ratio of light to dark) of video content on a scene-by-scene (or even frame-by-frame) basis, it also provides, with minimal metadata, the scene characteristics between bright and dark so that important detail can be kept. This enables displays to reproduce images more realistically, adhering to the creator’s intent. Wide Range IR Sensor

The PlayerOne 8K features a high sensibility infrared sensor that cover a wide angle on long distance (60° / 26 ft). In addition, the remote control is equipped with two IR diodes. In addition, the PlayerOne 8K comes with an IR extender. This allows you to place your PlayerOne 8K behind closed doors in a cabinet or in another room and still be able to control them from in front of your TV. It comes with self stick tape on the back of the IR bud for easy installation on any flat surface.

Best performance

The PlayerOne 8K benefits from the Hi-End version of the latest S928X multimedia processor with integrated Dolby Vision VS10 engine. The main processor includes four ARM A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, a “big” ARM A76 core clocked at 1.9 GHz (with very high performance), as well as an additional core for system needs. The resulting processor performance is up to 2 times higher than the Realtek RTD1619DR chipset used on the previous version of PlayerOne. Hardware acceleration improves the performance of the R_video user interface and speeds up video indexing. The GPU has been upgraded to Mali G57. Combined with ultra-fast LPDDR4X and eMMC, this delivers blazing overall system performance. The total Antutu score exceeds 300,000 points, which is significantly higher than that of the previous generation R_volution media player.

HDMI 2.1a Output.

R_volution PlayerOne 8K offers HDMI 2.1a output for connecting to the latest UHD 8K TVs, projectors and A/V receivers. The HDMI 2.1a port features up to 48Gbps as well as other improvement such as:

• Dynamic HDR (HDR dynamic metadata) – HDR data (depth, detail, brightness, contrast, and color gamuts) can now be optimized on a scene-by-scene or even a frame-by-frame basis.

• Full 8K 60p HDR video support – UHD 8K resolution offers 4 times as many pixels than 4K and 8 times than Full HD 1080p. 8K format offers the most impressive viewing experience and delivers a smooth and sharp picture. The PlayerOne 8K supports both 8K 60p HDR video decoding from video files or streaming content with 8Kp60 HDR video output for the best possible visual experience. The PlayerOne 8K can also downscale 8K content to any other resolution for better experience on 1080p and 4K displays. It can also upscale any content to glorious 8K resolution.

• SmartTube 8K HDR – Some 8K YouTube streams are encoded in AV1 codec with a much higher bitrate (around 2x) than when playing 4K streams (50 Mbps in AV1 quality corresponds to an even higher bitrate of VP9 or HEVC) . This significantly improves picture quality compared to older media players that can only play 4K VP9/HEVC, included for users using 1080p or 4K displays.

• High Audio Bitrate – Support for high-bitrate home theater audio formats, object-based audio like DTS X, Dolby Atmos, and Auro3D, and uncompressed LPCM 2.0, 5.1 and 7.1 multichannel.

• Flicker-free framerate/resolution switching (FFRS) – R_volution PlayerOne 8K offers advanced flicker-free feature for automatic framerate and resolution switching, which performs video mode switching before the start of file playback (rather than after) removing the unpleasant flickering when launching a video playback, resulting a better home theater experience.

Real Cinema

Cinema movies are shot at 24 frames per second (fps), but most video or Blu-ray files are recorded at 23.976fps. Today, many multimedia players output a video signal at 24,000Hz. However, this conversion generates problems of stuttering, in particular on video projectors. R_volution Real Cinema technology maintains the original frame rate of the file, whether in 23.976fps or 24,000fps until the final display in order to enjoy the same fluidity as in the cinema and preserve the original integrity of the work displayed. On the other hand, thanks to autoframerate, the player automatically switches to the correct output frequency depending on the frame rate of the file, namely: 23.976Hz, 24Hz, 29.97Hz, 30Hz, 50Hz and 59.94Hz (60Hz) depending on the type of file being played.

Dolby Multistream Decoder MS12

Thanks to the Dolby Multistream Decoder MS12, the R_volution PlayerOne 8K is capable of decoding high-end audio content, including Dolby Digital Plus™, Dolby Digital®, HE AAC, all AAC bitstreams and Dolby AC-4. It provides full Dolby metadata support for Dolby AC-4, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, and the Dolby implementation of HE AAC v2 audio formats. Dolby MS12 generates standard Dolby Audio™ bitstreams or LPCM bitstreams up to 7.1 channels based on the content of any incoming audio format. For example, a video file encoded in AAC 5.1 is decoded and converted to an LPCM 5.1 bitstream or a standard two-channel downmix, depending on the audio settings of your R_volution media player. Whith this powerful feature, you can enjoy your AAC 5.1 encoded files (or other codecs) on your AV receiver, even if it is not compatible.

With ISO files from original video discs, the video bitrate is 4x higher than streaming services — meaning less data loss. Image and sound are crystal clear and more realistic for the best possible home theater experience.

"The playback hardware is cutting edge. This is where our disc players are being outdone, those whose chassis has not evolved since 2019. The onbvoard Amlogic chip integrates hardware decoding of the AV1 point video CODEC up to 8K resolution (hence the name). The output connection is HDMI 2.1, where record players are forever stuck on 2.0b (...)
