Headed by founder Colin Chapman, the 79 was designed by the team at Lotus for the 1978 season. It was the first car to take full advantage of the ‘ground effects’ aerodynamics as pioneered in its immediate predecessor, the Lotus 78. The 79 is thought to have been the first F1 car designed using computer aids and the first to be analysed by pit computers on race weekends. It is also credited with pushing Formula 1 into the aerodynamics era, an influence still clearly seen today. Powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV engine that was housed at the rear of the car, the 79, also known as the John Player Special Mark IV or ‘Black Beauty’, was hailed for its stunning good looks.

Five chassis were built during its two-season lifespan, though 1978 remains the 78’s critical year, as it, driven by Mario Andretti and Ronnie Peterson, powered to a Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championship double. The Lotus 79 claimed six race wins, eight more podiums, ten pole positions and five fastest laps during its 26-race existence.

This is a 1:8 scale recreation of the Lotus 79 as raced by Ronnie Peterson at the 1978 Dutch Grand Prix. Peterson qualified on the front row, just behind his teammate Andretti. A relatively uneventful race belied stunning drives from the Lotus teammates and Peterson finished second by a tiny margin of 0.32 seconds. Sadly, this would be the last time Peterson would see the chequered flag, as he would be killed after an accident at the next race in Italy. Despite this, he would finish second in the Drivers’ Championship after a dominant year for Lotus.

Works well...but the price!
I ordered two sets to connect 3 monitors together for a workstation at my job. These are well designed and the magnets are pretty strong. Installation is easy and it holds the alignment well. The only issue is the price. For what it is, the price is quite high. The value proposition would be much higher for those who need to be able to not have them aligned from time to time, such as rotating one around for others to see in an office. But if don't need to do this and just want alignment, there are much cheaper options. If you want to go the cheapest DIY route and it won't be seen, some popsicle sticks with two sided tape works well. You can crack them in the middle to act as a hinge.

Awesome product only thing that worked
I originally thought the Screen Buddy was overpriced, but after spending hundreds of dollars trying to perfectly align my monitors for sim racing, this is genuinely the only thing that has actually worked properly. Triple monitor alignment is one of the most frustrating parts of building a sim rig, especially with monitor arms constantly moving or sagging. This finally made everything line up the way I wanted. Expensive? Maybe. Worth it after all the headaches? Absolutely. Great job.

Doesn't stick
The adhesive tape kept coming off. I cleaned and followed the installation instructions, but it still kept coming off. Wouldn't recommend.

Works Great, Very happy customer
I’ve tried a few different ways to connect and manage dual monitors, and the Screen Buddy Dual Monitor Connector is easily one of the most straightforward and reliable solutions I’ve used. Setup was quick—no confusing instructions or extra headaches Performance-wise, it’s been rock solid. The connection stays stable and even when I bumped the monitors once, and they disconnected, it was a quick push and they clicked right back together. Build quality feels solid and durable, not flimsy like some cheaper connectors. It’s clearly designed with everyday users in mind, whether you’re working, gaming, or multitasking across multiple apps. Overall, it delivers exactly what it promises: a simple, dependable way to keep your screens connected with no gaps or one being too high or too low. Definitely worth it if you want a clean, hassle-free dual monitor setup.

Warning, if you have two different thickness of monitors these may not work as intended.
The product seems very well made and the adhesive is very strong. These seem like they would work really well if you have two monitors of the same thickness, in my case I did not and they actually created more of a gap then without.
