This Sakai Takumi Ajimasa Yanagiba is crafted from Yasuki White Steel #2 (Shirogami #2), a high-purity Japanese carbon steel known for its exceptional sharpness and ease of sharpening. It is designed as a left-handed single-bevel knife, featuring a fully reversed blade geometry compared to standard right-handed models.
Left-handed Yanagiba knives require specialized forging and sharpening processes, resulting in significantly lower production volume and higher craftsmanship demands. This makes them rarer and typically priced 30–50% higher than standard right-handed versions.
The handle is made from Magnolia wood with a Buffalo horn bolster, providing traditional Japanese balance and durability. The blade features a refined Hongasumi finish, reflecting authentic craftsmanship.
