A plain dotted with sparse vegetation and a few low limestone ridges lies in the far distance. Wilfred Thesiger spent a week on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] hunting Arabian Tahr [Hemitragus jayakari] with Arab and Bedouin guides in April 1948.
