- Autumn Crop: September - November
👉 Ideal temperature for germination: 20–30°C
Seed Sowing Method
1. Nursery Preparation
- Use seed trays or small pots
- Growing mix:
- 50% Bhal mitti (sandy soil)
- 50% compost / vermicompost
- Optional: 10% cocopeat (especially in summer)
- Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep
- Keep soil moist (not soggy)
⏳ Germination time: 7–14 days
Transplanting
- Transplant when seedlings have 3–4 true leaves (3–4 weeks old)
- Spacing:
- Ground: 1.5–2 feet
- Pots: 10–12 inch pot minimum
☀️ Sunlight Requirement
- Needs 6–8 hours direct sunlight daily
💧 Watering
- Keep soil evenly moist
- Avoid overwatering (very important)
- In summers: water more frequently
- In winters: reduce watering
Fertilizer Guide
- At planting: add vermicompost
- Every 10–15 days:
- Liquid organic fertilizer OR
- NPK (balanced) in small dose
👉 For better fruiting: slightly higher potassium feed
Care Tips
✔️ Remove early flowers to strengthen plant
✔️ Light pruning improves airflow and yield
✔️ Support plant if heavy fruiting
✔️ Regular harvesting increases production
Harvesting
- Green stage: mild heat
- Red stage: fully ripe, sweeter & more flavorful
⏳ Harvest time: 60–80 days after transplant
Common Issues
- Flower drop → due to heat stress or overwatering
- Yellow leaves → drainage issue or nutrient deficiency
- Pests → aphids, whiteflies (use neem oil spray)
Pro Tip (Expert Level)
For maximum yield, keep stress low and maintain consistent watering. Jalapeño plants love stable conditions — sudden changes reduce fruiting.
