«اليوميات الممنوعة من النَّشر» للمُصوَّر الفوتوغرافي والخبير الجنائي «سليمان أفندي السيوفي»؛ والذي دوَّن فيها تفاصيل قضية جنائية غامضة، دارت أحداثها خلال فترة تَفشَّي وباء الطاعون في القرن التاسع عشر بالقاهرة، بعد ظهور جثة عائمة في مياه النيل تحمل الكثير من الأسرار
بدأت الأحداث خلال فترة حبس «سليمان أفندي» في سجن ليمان «الديميرخانة»، أشغال شاقة مؤيدة «فئة م»، تحت وطأة ظروف قاسية مُهلكة، انعكست آثارها على حالته النفسية، وأدَّت إلى تفاقُم اضطرابه الذي صنَّفه أطباءُ الأمراض العقلية كفِصام بارانويدي شديد، أعراضه تجمع بين أوهام الاضطهاد، وجُنون عظمة مصحُوب بضَلالات شديدة، تضاعف تأثيرُها بسبب توقُّف «سُليمان» المُفاجئ والاضطراري عن تعاطي «أعشاب يُوحنا» المُهدَّئة للأعراض، ورغم ذلك؛ فقد استطاع «السيوفي» أن يُؤرَّخ لمُغامرة مُثيرة حفَّتها المخاطرُ من كُل جانِب.
