Fleas:

Dogs and other warm-blooded pets are particularly susceptible to fleas in warm climates or during summer months when temperatures and humidity soar. Your dog can pick up fleas from other animals or from their surroundings. Fleas leap onto their “host” (your dog) using their strong hind legs and then bite, resulting in itching, hair loss, and hot spots from scratching, inflamed sores, and potential skin infections. You might also observe small, dirt-like specks on your pet, which are flea feces made from digested blood.

Female fleas can survive for several weeks on your dog and may lay between 20 to 30 eggs daily during that period. Some of these eggs will hatch into larvae while still on your pet, while others will fall off into your home environment, where they feed on skin flakes and other organic materials. Pet owners must treat both their dogs and their home environments, both inside and out.

A tick bite can lead to anemia, swollen joints, fever, and even paralysis. If you notice any signs of illness in your pet and suspect a tick bite, consult your veterinarian promptly. Always check your pet for ticks after outdoor adventures, especially in wooded regions.

For Dogs Only:

Hold the spray nozzle 8-12 inches away from your pet. Begin spraying at the tail and ensure you cover the entire coat, including legs, tail, and underbelly. Use your hand to fluff the fur against its natural direction to help the spray penetrate through the coat to the skin. Refer to the instructions on the bottle for the correct amount of product to apply based on your dog's weight. Do not exceed the recommended number of pump sprays for your dog’s body weight. Avoid saturating your pet and do not spray near the face, eyes, or genitals. Reapply as needed, but no more than once every 14 days (2 weeks).

For Areas Where Dogs Frequent:

Treat dog bedding and other resting spots, as these are prime hiding places for fleas and ticks; there’s no need to remove pet bedding after treatment. To minimize infestation, spray around sleeping areas, baseboards, window and door frames, wall cracks, and floors until the surfaces of dog houses and kennels are damp. Ensure that pets do not access treated areas until they are completely dry. For optimal results and to help prevent reintroduction of adult fleas from outside, use EPA-registered flea and tick products.
