Two-time Edgar Award finalist Lamar Giles spotlights the consequences of societal pressure, confronts toxic masculinity, and explores the complexity of what it means to be a "real man."

Del has had a crush on Kiera Westing since kindergarten. And now, during their junior year, she's finally available. So when Kiera volunteers for an opportunity at their church, Del's right behind her. Though he quickly realizes he's inadvertently signed up for a Purity Pledge.

His dad thinks his wires are crossed, and his best friend, Qwan, doesn't believe any girl is worth the long game. But Del's not about to lose his dream girl, and that's where fellow pledger Jameer comes in. He can put in the good word. In exchange, Del just has to get answers to the Pledgers' questions...about sex ed.

With other boys circling Kiera like sharks, Del needs to make his move fast. But as he plots and plans, he neglects to ask the most important question: What does Kiera want? He can't think about that too much, though, because once he gets the girl, it'll all sort itself out. Right?

With true-to-life characters and a straightforward handling of sex, including often ignored aspects of male sexuality, Giles's thoughtful, hilarious read offers a timely viewpoint on religion, toxic masculinity, and teen sexuality. (Publishers Weekly, An Anti-Racist Children's and YA Reading List)

SMELL is not so great. A bit pricey for kid shoes.
These are very cute and sparkly, just as a jelly should be. They are true to size and easy to learn how to buckle. I'm glad it's not velcro buckles as those easily fall apart. These jellies will definitely last. I assume that's why this brand 'mini melissa' is a bit more pricey, but 89 dollars for kid shoes they will grow out of in a year?! I have seen others not so expensive of the same brand. Not sure why these are so high. I don't think it's worth the money unless they're taken down a notch. They SMELL, which others love but I cannot stand the smell. Honestly like a park restroom air freshener or urinal cake. It stunk up the whole garage. And they are purposefully stored outside or in the garage for that reason. Not allowed in the house. It's been a month and they still are so strongly smelly. I wish there was a 'non scented' if that's possible. A good brand, but the smell is awful and the price isn't as fair for kid shoes.

Couldn’t be happier that Jelly’s are back!!
Size: 11 Little Kid, Color: Glitter Pink, Size: 11 Little Kid, Color: Glitter Pink
These are such fun little sandals for kids. The jelly style gives them a playful look, and they go with so many outfits. I love that they can be dressed up a bit or worn casually for everyday play. They’re super easy to clean, which is huge for kids’ shoes. Whether they get dirty outside or at the park, you can just wipe them down and they look good as new. They also feel sturdy and hold up really well with regular use. The fit is secure and they stay on without any issues, which is always something I look for in kids’ shoes. They’re comfortable enough for all-day wear too. Pros: Easy to clean, durable, secure fit, versatile style. This will sound weird but these shoes smell so good! Even my daughter thought so. Cons: None so far.

Fun Y2K Heels for Kids
Size: 3 Big Kid, Color: Glitter Pink, Size: 3 Big Kid, Color: Glitter Pink
These heels are absolutely adorable and bring a real fun Y2K vibe, perfect for an older kid who wants to add some sparkle to their outfit. The main material is a soft, jelly-style plastic which feels quite flexible. It does have a distinct, strong scent, but it's not unpleasant at all; just something to note when you first unbox them. The color is a lovely pink with gold sparkles mixed in. While it has a slightly more orange hue than I expected from the photos, it still looks really cool and vibrant. What stands out with these is how surprisingly practical they are for heels. The heels themselves are thick and provide solid balance, and the traction on the sole is good, making them easy to walk and even be active in. The insole has some light padding, adding to the comfort. In terms of fit, they run a little small, so keep that in mind when ordering, though they were close enough. My only minor gripe is the buckle; it's a standard plastic and metal clasp that you have to fasten each time, which isn't quite as convenient as some other kids' shoes that use a faux buckle with velcro underneath. Despite that, they're a really cute and well-designed pair of shoes for a young fashionista.

Very nice but insanely expensive
I got mini melissa Possession Heel in March 2026. These are excellent and I agree with virtually everything about them in the product description. These are stylish, they do look great, and they are definitely versatile in different occasions ways you can use them. The color on the Glitter Dark Pink one I got matches the pictures quite well, and these shoes overall look great and feel great. I do not have anything negative to say about them. Well, maybe the price but I will talk about that below. As for the price, $90 for these feel insanely expensive. The Glitter Dark Pink is currently discounted to $53 and even that feels quite expensive. Obviously these are nice, but I personally would consider $30 to be a great deal for these.
