Purigen is an exceptional synthetic adsorbent that stands out from other filtration products on the market. Unlike a blend of ion exchangers or traditional adsorbents, it is a distinctive macro-porous synthetic polymer that effectively eliminates both soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a rate and capacity that surpasses all other competing products by more than 500%. Purigen effectively manages ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates by removing nitrogenous organic waste, preventing the release of these harmful substances.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Outstanding organic removal capacity
  • Enhanced capacity due to its extensive surface area; features both spherical and macroreticular structures
  • Aids in controlling ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels
  • Color changes as it depletes; can be easily regenerated

DIRECTIONS:
Rinse thoroughly before use. Employ a fine mesh filter bag (180 microns or less) such as Seachem's The Bag. For optimal results, position Purigen to maximize water flow through it. It can be utilized in canister filters, media chambers, box filters, or any high flow section of a trickle filter. Each 250mL can treat up to 1,000L (250 US gallons) for a duration of up to six months. Depletion is indicated by a noticeable change in the color of the beads to a dark brown or black.

Interesting book, dull period
Format: Paperback
As a Marxist historian, Hobsbawm sees the world at this time, as well as the modern world, as a playground for the forces of capitalism. He apologizes for taking a eurocentric approach to world history, while acknowledging that Europe largely determined the course of world events during this period. In spite of the title, there actually isn't much discussion of colonial empires; Hobsbawm seems more interested in how the Age of Empire affected the rulers more than the ruled. His Marxist sympathies are in evidence and at times make his conclusions a bit predictable, but some of his cultural critiques are quite brilliant. The chapter on the dilemmas posed by modern science is exceptional. Reading a book like this seems to me much more interesting than actually living in this period would have been.
