Explores the powerful ways in which visual art has long provided its own rich outlet for protest, commentary, escape, and perspective for African Americans.

This important book showcases the potent role of visual art in African American history and culture. Featuring Black artists working in a range of media, from photography to sculpture to painting--including Amy Sherald, Benny Andrews, Sheila Pree Bright, Bisa Butler, Charles Alston, Elizabeth Catlett, Shaun Leonardo, and David Hammons, to name just a few--the book considers art that exemplifies resilience in times of conflict, as well as the ritual of creation, and the defiant pleasure of healing.

Reckoning, based on the exhibition of the same name at the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), explores the ongoing struggles Black Americans have faced in their pursuit to enjoy the fundamental rights and freedoms promised in the Constitution to citizens of the United States. Drawn from the museum's permanent collection, the featured works respond to the dual crises of Covid-19 and systemic racism that shaped 2020, a period that has been called one of reckoning, as the world witnessed the killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and other African Americans, leading to some of the largest protests in US history.

Sizzling
Format: Kindle
This book has some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve read, and I’ve read a few. The beauty of it is that they were not gratuitous, or ill placed. It all worked because the characters were well developed and believable. I didn’t think stranded on a desert island could be hot and sex for all of the practical reasons you can think of. The talent of the writing is that it extends beyond that to closeness, fear, companionship in a way that rounds the storyline out. The road isn’t easy for the MCs and that makes for an exciting read. I didn’t give five stars for the copious grammar and editing errors. Also, the author had me invested hook, line, and sinker but then rushed the ending. The grand gesture is made less grand by the choppy scene that preceded it. It spoiled what could have been an extremely romantic ending.

Another winner!
Format: Kindle
This is the 3rd book that I've read by this author, & everyone of them scored a 5 star review. The only negative on this book, is that the ending seemed rather abrupt. Hopefully, there will be a continuation of this story.

It’s pretty cringe story, but great if you just want to erotica. I Wish there was more at the end.

captivating story..
Format: Kindle
Wow.. you’re at a photo shoot in the jungle and suddenly you’re being attacked by natives making a daring escape, jump in a waterfall, float down a raging river to the ocean. Find yourselves stranded on an island for 3 months Helen and Lana fell in love. This was a captivating story, well told, Helen and Lana anguish felt real.
