The Expanded Daily Office is the result of over twenty-five yearsÕ work. Based on the Episcopal liturgies for Morning and Evening Prayer in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, the EDO draws upon a variety of Anglican and other sources to provide an easy-to-use office book in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. A basic introduction to the private recitation of the office is provided. The lectionary has been completely redone and includes a concise introduction to the Bible. The translation of the Psalter has been somewhat revised, and is provided with antiphons. The number of canticles in Morning Prayer has been greatly expanded to choices from eight for each day of the week. Familiar traditional canticles have been rendered in contemporary language while retaining the traditional wording and cadences as much as possible. Several ancient devotions have been restored, including the four antiphons of Our Lady in Evening Prayer.
