The SNAP* Foal IgG Test is an enzyme immunoassay designed for the semi-quantitative measurement of immunoglobulin G (IgG) in equine serum, plasma, or whole blood. To begin, diluted whole blood, serum, or plasma is combined with the conjugate reagent and placed into the SNAP* device. Once activated, the device releases the reagents stored inside. The color development observed on the sample spot correlates directly with the IgG concentration in the tested sample. The calibrator spots on the device provide color development that corresponds to IgG levels of 400 mg/dL and 800 mg/dL. By comparing the color intensities between the sample spot and the calibrator spots, one can accurately assess the IgG level in the test sample. The color change on the calibrator spots also confirms that the assay reagents are functioning properly.
