Welsh psych-pop band El Goodo return with their long awaited third album By Order Of The Moose, on Cian Ciaran's (Super Furry Animals) Strangetown Records. Recorded over the course of eight years in an old derelict cinema in their home village of Resolven, the album is a continuation of where the band left off in 2009 with their previous effort Coyote (2010). Wielding the wide open spaces of spaghetti westerns with the close melodic harmonies of girl groups and the good humor of Nuggets inspired garage rock n' roll, El Goodo takes you on a trip through their fascination with '60s music. Comprised of brothers Elliott (drums, percussion) and Jason Jones (guitar, vocals), Pixy Jones (guitar, vocals, keyboards), Lewie Sewers (guitar), Matthew Young (keyboards), and Andrew Cann (bass), El Goodo (named after a Big Star song) are a band enthralled by the past. They recorded the album on a 16-track with a small collection of faulty equipment, creating a collection of melodic pop songs, embellished with strings, brass, sitars, harmonicas, xylophones, and vocal harmonies (and then seemingly covered it all with dust), that you'd expect to find on some forgotten '60s record that someone has stumbled upon in their attic. Jason, who made the intricate cover illustration, seems to have interpreted the title to be more of a circus, depicting a wild west ringmaster, wild animals, and acrobats. From the first recording in November 2008 with the track "When", the album took eight years to complete. Initially thinking it would only take them a few months, they set out to record at The Music Box in Cardiff. Two years later they decamped back to their village, to the Resolven Miners' Welfare Hall. The first single "It Makes Me Wonder" is their interpretation of a '60s girl group song. The similarly titled opening track "Sit & Wonder" was an attempt to do something like Zager & Evans's "In The Year 2525", but it didn't turn out like that. The lyrics were based on war films like Come And See (1985), Ivan's Childhood (1962), and Red Dawn (1984). "So It Goes" was meant to be like a Marty Robbins cowboy song but ended up being more like a Nuggets track. "Susan And Bill" is a touching tribute to his parents.

Ignore the bad reviews, read mine!
Pictures don’t make you think much, but in-person these are beautiful and well made. I’ve been trying to replace everything with cleaner safer alternatives. Honestly I love everything this brand offers and stands for! Some things to think about when you see other peoples negative reviews. Since these cutting boards are all around safe and clean with no toxic coating’s that most have to make them last longer, they do require more maintenance, when people don’t follow that maintenance you get a warped or cracked board. Also they are not meant to last as long as your plastic one from Walmart, they should be replaced more often. Luckily for a pack of 3, and I’ll say again that are TRULY non toxic, they are super reasonably priced! For what they offer I would even pay more for these. They do also come with instructions on how to care for them! So if you are the type of person to leave things dirty, or wet in the sink, these are probably not for you. For anyone who doesn’t mind taking the extra minute these are a must (literally a quick wipe, rinse and hand dry, it’s nothing). Gives me a breathe of fresh air to know I’m using safe, and clean products.

Cutting boards will splinter
A lot of the reviews that are saying these wooden boards splinter are true. I was excited to find some nontoxic wooden cutting boards for such a great price. Upon arrival, they seemed pretty decent quality when I pulled them out of the package. I proceeded to use the large one so I gave it a quick rinse with warm water and was taken back by fumes coming off the cutting board and then wiped it down with a white paper towel and my paper towel was brown. I was a little discouraged, but decided to give it a better rinse with a soap, free brush. At that point once I dried it off whatever coding was on it came off and it was rough and splinters everywhere. Definitely a little upset that the splinters could’ve ended up in our food. These are not good quality non-toxic cutting boards I would rather spend a little extra money on a quality board that is not going to sprinter Wood shavings into my food.

Very good, just be sure not to leave in water
Overall, this is a very good product as my wife and I are moving towards non-toxic kitchen materials. My only advice is to make sure to not leave this submerged in water otherwise mold will easily form.

Truly non-toxic but a little rough and uneven
I’m very impressed with the packaging of this. When I first opened the box I was shocked that there was a plastic wrapping around the boards when they promised to be non toxic but then I saw the sticker that the wrapping was not plastic and I was very happy. The boards themselves are pretty nice and a good thickness but the only thing is I feel like the board is a little rough and parts of the board come up and are not smooth.

Not Durable…Splintered….
Had to chuck these. I loved them at first but they are not durable. Scratched themselves up right away and then the mid sized one started to splinter. I didn’t even have it for very long before I had to get rid of them. Long enough to not be able to return. I prefer the bamboo as far as wood goes, but switched to an antibacterial. It’s crazy because I had the same cutting boards for years and in the past month I’ve had to replace them 3 times now. I was so disappointed because there were such amazing reviews. Sadly that was not the case for me. I give it a 3 because they are absolutely beautiful…..you get points for being beautiful I suppose in this world. But not durable. At least not for me.
