Silk Fibroin (SF) is a polymer polypeptide consisting of multiple amino acids derived from the degumming process of silkworm silk.SF molecule consists of a hydrophobic peptide chain (H chain) and a hydrophilic peptide chain (L chain).The special amino acid sequence of the H chain and the L chain enables it to form a variety of protein secondary conformations. It is possible to control the secondary structure of filipin proteins to effectively control various properties of filipin materials, including the preparation of high-strength and high-orientation materials. Because of its biocompatibility, biodegradability, high tensile strength, etc., it has been used in various biomedical fields, including wound dressings, artificial blood vessels, cell culture, etc., and it has been certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which makes it a very promising biomaterial.
Silk proteins cannot be dissolved in water due to their own high degree of crystallinity, and this hydrophobic property makes it difficult to obtain a homogeneous structure when compounded with hydrophilic systems such as hydrogels. In order to improve the dispersibility of filipin, filipin solutions are often obtained by salt dissolution and dialysis, followed by the preparation of the corresponding composite materials. The preparation process of silk protein solution is cumbersome, with poor stability and easy spontaneous gelation, which limits its biological applications.
