Gabriel Saloman has developed a reputation for releasing penetrating works of haunting beauty in his new role as a solo performer and composer. Known for his part in the seminal electronic-noise duo Yellow Swans (alongside Pete Swanson), Saloman has taken the sweeping drones and fried electricity of his former band and embedded them within an expanding palette of bowed strings, martial percussion and resonant piano. The majority of his work to date has been developed as music for contemporary dance, exemplified by two solo albums with Miasmah, 2012's melancholic Adhere (MIA 021 LP) and last year's celebrated ode to mud and decay Soldier's Requiem (MIA 026 CD/LP). As he continues to prolifically produce music for dance, Saloman has developed a new series with Shelter Press to make these works available: Movement Building. The first of two volumes to be released individually on vinyl and together on CD, "The Disciplined Body" is a 34-minute work that moves through ghostly minimalist drones, poly-vocal drumming and culminates in an aching climb through sheets of shimmering guitar chords before erupting in a violent spurt of harsh noise. While at it's climax it may be evocative of transcendental string manglers ranging from My Bloody Valentine to Godspeed You! Black Emperor, in it's more subtle moments it wades through the kind of blackened water that suggests the outer boundaries of ambient metal, or the ghostly remnants of a cassette dub of beatless electronics. Composed for Daisy Karen Thompson's "Re-Marks on Source Material," the music shares that dance's Foucault-influenced questioning of the limits imposed on our bodies by technology and labor, reaching for an ecstatic escape from discipline and control. Listeners may want to reach for the same - to do so we suggest they play this recording very, very loud. Mastered and cut by Helmut Erler at Dub plates & Mastering, Berlin. All music by GMS (guitar, percussion). Recorded at 611 Alexander and SFU SCA in Vancouver, Coast Salish Territories, Spring and Summer 2013.

Very Pleased with Room Divider

This room divider is even better than I expected. It's sturdy but is lightweight enough that I could get the box up a flight of stairs with no problem whatsoever. It folds and unfolds easily and is very easy to move. And there's no assembly required! It really is woven and is quite attractive. The main reason I chose this item was price (although I did like the way it looked) and I got more for my money than I thought I would.

Works well

i bought this for 3 reasons.
1. Privacy when changing so I don't have to lock dog out of room.
2. In case MIL comes over and wants to snoop. She won't be able to see my bedroom.
3. A nice backdrop to use when taking photos of the clothing I make.
This is perfect for me.
My only "complaint" is that it is not the most sturdy thing. I have to finagle it in a way that keeps it from falling over.
But for the price, it can't be beat!

Cheap and unstable

Although this has nothing to do with the product, it arrived a day later than previously stated. Making me have to create a makeshift room divider the day it was actually needed. When the product arrived it arrived in a box that showed no evidence of damage. Once opened, divider was found inside a plastic cover. Great protector for dust or scratching. The divider was fully assembled so there was nothing for me to do but remove it from packaging and use it where needed. After further inspection the divider was not only cheap and flimsy looking it was absolutely unstable. It would wobble and appears to have been assembled in a rush making some panels crooked. I noted significant damage to the bottom portion of some of the panels both front and back. It does not feel like an item worth the price. The color is as advertised and the product had no smell. The sizing was accurate.
