Compared to the standard hEX, the hEX S model introduces a 1.25Gbit/s SFP port for fiber optic connectivity and a convenient PoE output on its final port.
Powerful Core for Advanced Configurations
At the heart of the hEX S is a powerful dual-core 880 MHz CPU with four threads, paired with 256 MB of RAM. This combination ensures the router can handle all the advanced configurations and demanding tasks supported by MikroTik's acclaimed RouterOS. It supports hardware-accelerated IPsec encryption (at approximately 470 Mbps) for secure tunneling, and can run The Dude server package for comprehensive network monitoring.
Versatile Connectivity and Power Options
The hEX S is equipped with five 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports, a USB 2.0 port, and a microSD slot for expanded file storage. A key feature is the Passive PoE output on port 5, allowing you to power another PoE-capable device, such as an access point or IP camera, using the same voltage that is supplied to the router. The unit itself can be powered via a standard DC jack or through PoE input (802.3af/at) on the first port, offering flexibility in deployment.
