This University of Massachusetts Amherst Studio is divided into two parts. The first half of the semester brings together graduate students who are studying in the allied disciplines of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ALA). The second half of the semester, architecture students continue to develop a project that emerged from the ALA Design Teams.
In 2018, the UMass Amherst Administrators requested the help of our graduate design students to envision a new future for the recently acquired UMass Campus at Mt. Ida in Newton. Teams of Architecture and Landscape Architecture students designed new Master Plans for the campus. The Architecture students then continued on to develop one of the buildings from their Master Plans.
This book documents studio research and design projects by the Graduate III Architecture Studio and the Graduate Landscape Architecture Studio in the Fall of 2018. All images of student work appear by courtesy of the students and the professors of this studio.
