This narrow, extended shelter is designed specifically for musical bluebirds, as studies show they easily adapt to this shape of nest whereas other birds do not. A 2.625" tall and 1.5" wide, oval opening provides passage into the deep chamber, and a significantly overhanging roof directs rain away from the entry. Dual ventilation holes below the roof keep nestlings from overheating, aided by the gray hue of the plastic lumber construction. A few horizontal grooves beneath the front opening create gripping spots for your feathered friends, mirrored by netting on the interior for fledglings to climb out. A platform near the base of the frame handily holds the nest, and holes here provide drainage. The deep brown, front panel opens downward to prevent disturbing eggs or nestlings, and three predrilled holes on the lengthy back assist in mounting the home against a post, wall, or fence.
