Biography:

Sepultura, which means “grave” in Portuguese, is a Brazilian heavy metal rock band from Belo Horizonte. Founded in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, the band has been a major force in the groove metal, thrash metal and death metal genres during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Later in their career, their style drew on influences from alternative metal, world music, nu metal, hardcore punk and industrial metal. Sepultura is considered in the second wave of thrash metal acts from the late 80s to mid-1990s along with bands like Pantera, Testament, Sacred Reich, Dark Angel, Machine Head, Death Angel, and Forbidden. The band has released 15 studio albums, with the latest being “Quadra” in 2020. Their most successful records are Beneath The Remains (1989), Arise (1991), Chaos A.D.(1993) and Roots (1996). They have sold over three million records in the U.S. and 20 million worldwide, gaining multiple gold and platinum records around the globe, including in countries such as France, Australia, Indonesia and their native Brazil. Roots is the band’s sixth studio album. It is the band's last studio album to feature founding member and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Max Cavalera. Following the shift to slower tempos and Latin-tinged rhythms on the album Chaos A.D.Roots delves even further into Brazilian musical textures. Both in sound and overall aesthetic, Roots is also a conscious nod to Brazil's marginalized indigenous population and cultures. The song "Itsári" features a Xavante chant that re-appears on the song "Born Stubborn" and serves as a loose thematic thread for the whole album, which on the whole showcases the band's increased affinity for experimentation and collaboration. "Lookaway" features guest appearances by Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis, then-Korn drummer David SilveriaHouse of Pain/Limp Bizkit turntablist DJ Lethal, and Faith No More/Mr. Bungle vocalist Mike Patton. Riff-wise, Roots also draws influence from the then-surging nu metal movement, specifically Korn (whose first two albums were also produced by Roots producer Ross Robinson) and Deftones. After leaving the band, Max Cavalera would continue to pursue the nu metal and "world" stylings of Roots with his solo project Soulfy. Since its release, Roots has sold over two million copies worldwide.

So much feelings!
Format: Kindle
Collette was not voiceless in the least and to say she is by far my fave FMC of all time right now it's no understatement. Best 1st read of the year ever!! I love how possessive each of her men were and OMG Lena is the best BFF and girl could ask for! I'm pretty sure I need this gorgeous book on my shelf pronto!

Great start
Format: Kindle
I loved this book! It's funny but still deals with tough themes, like chronic illness, a serial killer on the loose, and a dash of self-harm. The guys are interesting and distinct, we don't know too much about them yet. It does end on a really terrible cliffhanger but on the bright side the next book is out and I believe the series is complete. I have enjoyed both of these authors separately and this is a great team up!

Fudge!
Format: Kindle
Titles aren’t my strong suit. Sorry not sorry. That ending has me completely frustrated book two isn’t out yet. Just throwing that out there. First thing first, this is a high school book where the lead is under 18. Yea yea she’s about month from being an adult, but I can’t say I would’ve even opened the file if I’d realized. It’s not a smut fest or anything, but there is sexual tension as each party figures out their emotions. That being said, it’s a good book. There are some troubling parts, like how the supes come into their powers at 13, but most of those are dealt with in a way that makes sense. Kian is the exception. His whole arc pisses me off, especially since no one stepped in. Reflecting back on real world situations, ten or so years ago, I can see it happening, but it still makes me sick. Which, I’m sure was the whole damn point. For the most part, Courting Darkness is a fun read. I found myself laughing along with most of the set up. By the time it started getting serious, I’d grown to like the characters enough it held an impact. I’ll be adding book two to my list for when it comes out.

Intriguing
Format: Kindle
An intriguing story that played out slowly while introducing some unique characters. The story became quite fascinating to read as these same characters provided startling revelations to their lives. As their relationships evolve, more drama and mystery is revealed adding to my fascination. I can’t wait to read more.

Outstanding Story!!!!!!!
Format: Kindle
Oh I loved this story. Sera is such an amazing, fun character. She has so much fire inside of herself. She has humor that makes you laugh with her sassy comments. The guys are fantastic. I don’t feel as if we really have gotten to know who and what they are but they are such a mix of fae. The story is extremely well written and developed. It had me pulled in and didn’t let go. There was so much action, drama, and suspense. Then we get to the ending and goodness there is so much going on. This ending was a major cliffhanger and I absolutely can’t wait to see what happens next.
