Getting Away with Murder on the Texas Frontier: Notorious Killings and Celebrated TrialsIn 1916, in the tiny West Texas town of Benjamin, a gunman slips into a courtroom and murders the defendant. In 1916, in the tiny West Texas town of Benjamin, a gunman slips into a courtroom and murders the defendant. In 1912, in Fort Worth's finest hotel, a young man kills an old gentleman in cold blood in the middle of the lobby. The verdict in both of these murderers' trials? Not guilty. The explanation? "This is Texas." Laws passed by politicians in far-off Austin meant little to Westerners living on the Texas frontier. Sagebrush justice relied less on written statutes than on common sense, grass-roots fairness, and vague notions of folk law drawn from the Old South's Victorian code of chivalry and honor. In this very different time and place, a murderer might go free based on the following reasoning: "The son-of-a-gun is guilty all right, but we must turn him loose. He owes me for a pair of boots, and if we convict him I'll never get my money." Inexperienced prosecutors, a lack of modern crime-detection methods, un04 Activeability of witnesses, an acceptance of violence in society, and a laissez-faire attitude toward trial tactics all conspired to make guilty verdicts a rarity. In this first volume of a planned trilogy, Neal presents the evidence that shows how easy some folks found it to evade justice in the frontier West. CONTENTS The Unlikely Saviors of Thomas J. Dog loved it, wish it had lasted - better suited for light chewers
Color: Stick
Our puppy was able to pull the rope out of the rubber piece within a day or so. Unfortunately, he then started chewing on the blue rubber piece and had it destroyed in no time. Once the pieces started coming off, we had to throw it away to prevent him from ingesting it.

great for teething puppies
Color: Stick
I have puppies that are 6 weeks old and this toy has been great. They like to gnaw on it as their teeth are erupting. I easy to clean, washer and dryer. I have several other teething toys from same company as I liked this one so much. Would purchase again, highly recommend for teething pups.

My English springer spaniels favorite toy!
Color: Stick, Color: Stick
Boomer, my English springer spaniel loves this toy, it is by far his favorite since he was a young puppy. He is three now and although the original toy is still useable it was showing a little wear so I purchased a second one for his third birthday. He was an aggressive chewer when he was younger and I had a great deal of difficulty in finding toys he would not destroy in 30 minutes. I bought the Orka stick to help with teething and it proved to be very durable and became his favorite toy. He loves the new one just as much enthusiasm. boomer doesn't like the rope so I removed it.

Disappointment
Color: Stick
Disappointment, I have bought these for several of my labs as pups in the past, The center material used to be fleece with knots at ends and difficult To pull through the rubber chew . This toy now has like cotton and polyester strings through the toy tied into knots it easily to chews a part with the dogs, sticks in their teeth and makes a mess, Also easily pulls right through out of the rubber chew toy . After less than one day I ended up throwing away this knotted ball of string and I threaded some fleece strips through the toy and made large nots at the ends, it is now holding up quite well To a pretty aggressive puppy chewer. But I pretty much had to make my own toy

Good for adult & puppy.
We have a one year old English Mastiff female & a 3 month old English Mastiff male puppy. They both love this toy. I have to say Pet Stages won me over after my mother gave me a few of their toys. I'm not a fan of bright colors, but the dogs just these things. All the toys seem to be designed & tested to keep them interested. My dogs love trying to pull the ropes out, chewing the blue firm but soft enough tube and playing tug-o-war with it.
