Night Spirits: The Story of the Relocation of the Sayisi DeneFor over 1500 years, the Sayisi Dene, 'The Dene from the East', led an independent life, following the caribou herds and having little contact with white society. For over 1500 years, the Sayisi Dene, 'The Dene from the East', led an independent life, following the caribou herds and having little contact with white society. In 1956, an arbitrary government decision to relocate them catapulted the Sayisi Dene into the 20th century. It replaced their traditional nomadic life of hunting and fishing with a slum settlement on the outskirts of Churchill, Manitoba. Inadequately housed, without jobs, unfamiliar with the language or the culture, their independence and self-determination deteriorated into a tragic cycle of discrimination, poverty, alcoholism and violent death. By the early 1970s, the band realized they had to take their future into their own hands again. After searching for a suitable location, they set up a new community at Tadoule Lake, 250 miles north of Churchill. Today they run their own health, education and community programs. But the scars of the relocation will take years to heal, and Tadoule Lake is grappling with the problems of a people whose ties to the land, and to one another, have been tragically severed. In Night Spirits, the survivors, including those who were children at the time of the move, as well as the few remaining elders, recount their stories. They offer a stark and brutally honest account of the near-destruction of the Sayisi Dene, and their struggle to reclaim their lives. It is a dark story, told in hope.-- "Winnipeg Sun"Binding Type: Paperback

Great! As expected
Style: Duck
This dog toy has quickly become one of my dog’s favorites. The dust-like texture really seems to appeal to him, it’s different from most toys and keeps him interested. It’s also a great size for small to medium dogs, making it easy for him to carry around and play with.
The toy is soft, which is perfect for gentle play and cuddling, and the built-in squeaker adds an extra layer of fun that keeps him engaged. Overall, it’s a simple but well designed toy that my dog absolutely loves. Definitely a great pick if your pup enjoys soft, squeaky toys with a unique texture.

Cute toys, creative play, strong
Style: Bundle
I have a new 6 lb Maltese puppy. I saw these toys and worried they were going to be too big for my little boy. Not so. He LOVES these toys and drags them around the house everywhere. I gave him one at a time over a month period. He's chewing on them like crazy, but they are staying together. I'm very happy with this product and so is Jasper!

Durabilty questionable but puppy love is not
Style: Bundle
I bought the multipack. The “durability” of these toys is questionable. The best toy (the one with the rope legs) arrived already separating at the seams. I would have returned it except my dog had already run off with another one of the toys in the pack and was not about to give it back, so I was left trying to sew the rope toy together (I don’t know how to sew in case anyone is wondering). A week in and all the toys have been just about destroyed by my 10lb maltipoo, but he loves them and they’re cheap so I’ll probably purchase them or another variation again.
