Hug Of Thunder was produced by Joe Chiccarelli (White Stripes, Spoon, The Strokes) with Nyles Spencer, and mixed by Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Weezer). Founded in '99 by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, the album features 17 players and 15 original members including Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw of Metric, Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of Stars, Charles Spearin and Ohad Benchetrit of Do Make Say Think, and Grammy-nominated Leslie Feist. Hug Of Thunder is everything BSS fans love from the Canadian collective and then some, an album overflowing with glorious open chords, multi-voice harmonies, spacious psychedelia-tinted breakdowns, and more. It is a panoramic, expansive album that manages to be both epic and intimate; and like all things BSS, in troubled times, it offers a serotonin rush of positivity. Since their inception in the early Aughts, BSS have always pushed sonic boundaries while remaining reverent of a perfect chorus; almost twenty years down the line, Hug Of Thunder sharpens that balance and then some. The record's twelve songs refract the band's varying emotions, methods, and techniques in ways that not only reference their other albums, but surpass them. Hug Of Thunder is righteous but warm, angry but loving, melodic but uncompromising. And if you've ever fallen in love with Broken Social Scene - as many of us have - it is a perfect return that was truly worth the wait.

A Sweet, Classic Read – Perfect for Bedtime!

I got Daddies for my son’s birthday, and it’s quickly become a favorite in our home! We read it multiple times a day – I’ve practically got it memorized! The simple, classic illustrations are wonderful for little ones’ growing minds, and they bring such a calm, cozy vibe, making this book especially great for winding down before bed. Little Golden Books are a staple in our family, and Daddies fits right in. Highly recommend for any parent looking to add a timeless, heartfelt story to their child’s collection!

Great illustrations. Great story.

My son and daughter (who are 2 and 4 years old) love this book. They seem to gravitate to all the Little Golden Books we have. It's one that I don't mind reading over and over again. The pictures have an old fashioned look to them, but I like them, especially the one at the end showing them all eating dinner together. As others have noted, there aren't really any women in the book, but it is about Daddies, and applies well to our family situation. The main point is that daddy loves them even though he is away at work all day, so it might not be the best choice for stay-at-home Dads. Made a great Father's Day present for us.

This book brings back so many sweet memories!
Format: Hardcover
When my son was a toddler, I read to him every night. This book was one of the stories in a large book of children's stories. My son loved Daddies so much, he wanted me to read it over and over and over again until he had it memorized and he would "read" it himself. Now my son will be 46 in March and I bought it as a surprise for his birthday. I think he will enjoy it and it will make him laugh. It is a great book. Now one of my daughters wants me to buy a copy for one of my great-grandsons!!!
