This AQUAEL product is a specialized substrate designed specifically for shrimp aquariums. Visually, the soil resembles black gravel with an average grain size ranging from 1 to 4 mm. Its natural, meticulously chosen components help to optimize water parameters for shrimp and promote a balanced ecosystem, creating a harmonious environment for both the plants and animals in your aquarium!
How does it enhance water parameters? The natural habitat of shrimp typically features a carbonate hardness of up to 3°d and pH levels between 5.5 and 6.5. In this perfect setting, shrimp flourish and exhibit a strong inclination to breed. The Advanced Soil Shrimp Powder incorporates natural humic acids that are gradually released into the water*; these acids positively influence the reproductive readiness of crustaceans while also encouraging plant growth.
A well-maintained plant environment is crucial for shrimp, as it hosts a variety of beneficial filter bacteria. This substrate also enhances biological filtration in the aquarium, making it ideal for fostering beneficial nitrifying bacteria. By absorbing harmful substances, it contributes to a healthy ecosystem and improves water quality, resulting in remarkably clear water.
*The substrate continuously releases nutrients, ensuring long-lasting effectiveness and promoting sustainable use without the need for frequent changes or additional nutrient supplementation. This substrate provides an increased sense of security and comfort for shrimp—these crustaceans prefer darker environments and feel more secure due to the soil's black hue; their natural shyness diminishes, allowing them to become more active! Owners will enjoy observing the vibrant colors of their shells more frequently and studying their fascinating behaviors. Additionally, the dark substrate beautifully contrasts with the vivid colors of the shrimp, making them even more eye-catching.
Note: The conditions mentioned apply to the most common dwarf shrimp species of Caridina cf. cantonensis, including the more demanding, highly cultivated "Taiwan" varieties—such as Panda, King Kong, and Red Wine—as well as many other freshwater shrimp from the Caridina and Neocaridina genera.
