Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands (Pair) at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands are a dedicated pair of steel speaker stands from MoFi Electronics (USA), exclusively engineered for the Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 bookshelf loudspeaker, and available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Standing 22 inches tall with a three-pole steel construction, these stands raise the SourcePoint 8 to its optimal listening height for the concentric driver design created by renowned audio engineer Andrew Jones. The top plate measures 10 x 10 inches and the base plate measures 12.99 x 12.52 inches, providing a stable, low-resonance foundation matched precisely to the SourcePoint 8's cabinet footprint. Sold as a pair and supplied with spikes, spike plates, neoprene pads, and felt pads for flexible floor surface compatibility.

Engineered Specifically for the SourcePoint 8

The Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 is not a standard bookshelf loudspeaker, and its dedicated stands are not generic accessories. The SourcePoint 8's concentric driver design, developed by Andrew Jones, places a 1.25-inch soft-dome tweeter at the center of an 8-inch paper-cone woofer to create a true point-source radiator. The acoustic benefits of this arrangement, including consistent off-axis dispersion, wide sweet spot, and precise three-dimensional imaging, are fully realized only when the tweeter is positioned at the listener's ear height. These 22-inch stands were developed with that listening geometry in mind, setting the SourcePoint 8 at exactly the height at which Stereophile's Kalman Rubinson and other reviewers experienced the speaker's wide, transparent soundstage and engaging, non-fatiguing character. Pairing the SourcePoint 8 with a generic stand of incorrect height risks compromising the imaging precision and tonal balance that make Andrew Jones' concentric driver design so effective.

Three-Pole Steel Construction with Fillable Columns

The stands use a three-pole steel design that balances structural rigidity with a minimal footprint, keeping the visual profile unobtrusive while providing the mechanical stability required to support the SourcePoint 8's 27.9-pound cabinet without flex or rocking. The hollow steel poles can be filled with sand or similar damping material to add mass and reduce resonance further, a feature common to reference-grade speaker stands used with demanding audiophile loudspeakers. A thicker base plate at 0.24 inches provides ground-level stability, while the 0.08-inch top plate interfaces directly with the SourcePoint 8's cabinet bottom. The supplied spike set couples the base plate to hard floors for vibration draining, while the included neoprene and felt pads provide a non-damaging alternative for wood floors, tiles, and carpeted surfaces.

Key Features

  • Exclusively Designed for the SourcePoint 8: The top plate dimensions, stand height, and structural geometry are matched specifically to the MoFi Electronics SourcePoint 8 bookshelf loudspeaker, ensuring correct listening height and a secure fit for the speaker's cabinet footprint.
  • 22-Inch Optimal Listening Height: Raises the SourcePoint 8's concentric driver to the seated ear height at which Andrew Jones' point-source design delivers its full imaging, dispersion, and tonal balance performance.
  • Three-Pole Steel Construction: Rigid steel pole assembly resists flex and vibration, maintaining a stable platform under the SourcePoint 8's 27.9-pound cabinet during all listening levels.
  • Fillable Pole Design: The hollow steel columns can be filled with sand or other damping material to increase mass, further reduce resonance, and lower the mechanical noise floor of the stand.
  • 10 x 10 Inch Top Plate: A 0.08-inch-thick top plate sized to match the SourcePoint 8's cabinet base for a stable, flush contact area with no overhang or instability.
  • 12.99 x 12.52 Inch Base Plate: A wide, 0.24-inch-thick steel base plate distributes the combined weight of stand and speaker across a generous footprint for maximum floor-level stability.
  • Complete Floor Interface Kit: Each pair includes spikes and spike plates for hard floor and carpet use, plus neoprene and felt pads for non-damaging placement on wood, tile, and laminate surfaces.
  • Sold as a Pair: Supplied as a matched pair, one stand per SourcePoint 8 speaker, ready to accommodate a complete stereo setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands?

The Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands are a dedicated pair of three-pole steel speaker stands from MoFi Electronics, exclusively engineered for the SourcePoint 8 bookshelf loudspeaker. They stand 22 inches tall, feature a 10 x 10 inch top plate, a 12.99 x 12.52 inch base plate, and fillable columns for added resonance damping. They are sold as a pair and include spikes, spike plates, neoprene pads, and felt pads, and are available in Toronto, Canada through Vinyl Sound.

Will the SourcePoint 8 stands work with other bookshelf speakers?

The Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands were designed specifically to match the cabinet dimensions and optimal listening height of the SourcePoint 8. The 10 x 10 inch top plate is sized to the SourcePoint 8's base footprint, and the 22-inch height is calculated to position the SourcePoint 8's concentric driver at seated ear height for the point-source imaging performance Andrew Jones intended. While they may physically support other speakers with a similar cabinet footprint, their engineering rationale and performance case apply specifically to the SourcePoint 8.

Can the stand columns be filled for extra stability?

Yes, the three-pole columns of the SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands are hollow and can be filled with sand or similar damping material. Filling the columns increases the total mass of the stand assembly, lowers its resonant frequency, and reduces the amount of mechanical energy that feeds back into the speaker cabinet from floor-borne vibrations. This is a common practice with high-performance speaker stands, particularly when pairing with heavier loudspeakers like the SourcePoint 8, which weighs 27.9 pounds per cabinet.

What floor surface options do the stands support?

The SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands include a complete floor interface kit for all common surface types. Steel spikes and spike plates are provided for hard floors and carpet, where they mechanically couple the stand to the floor and drain vibration away from the speaker. Neoprene and felt pads are also included for placement on wood, tile, or laminate surfaces where spikes would cause damage. Both options are supplied in the box, allowing listeners to choose the appropriate interface for their specific listening room without requiring additional purchases.

Why is the 22-inch height important for the SourcePoint 8?

The 22-inch stand height is calibrated to bring the SourcePoint 8's concentric tweeter-within-woofer driver to the seated ear height of a typical listener, which is approximately 36 to 38 inches from the floor. This positioning is critical for the SourcePoint 8's point-source concentric driver design, conceived by Andrew Jones, because the acoustic benefits of a single-point radiator, including coherent time alignment, wide dispersion, and stable three-dimensional imaging, are fully realized only when the driver is on-axis with the listener's ears. Stereophile's Kalman Rubinson noted that seated ear height was decisive in unlocking the SourcePoint 8's full soundstage capability during his listening evaluation.

Where can I buy the Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 Stands in Toronto or Canada?

The Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands are available in Toronto and across Canada through Vinyl Sound, an authorized Mobile Fidelity dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries both the SourcePoint 8 loudspeakers and their dedicated stands, and can assist with placement advice and system recommendations for your listening room.

Do the stands come with everything needed for setup?

Yes, the Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 8 Speaker Stands ship as a complete pair with all hardware needed for setup included in the box. Each pair comes with spikes for hard floor and carpet coupling, spike plates to protect the floor surface beneath the spikes, neoprene pads for non-damaging placement on delicate surfaces, and felt pads for additional floor protection. No separate hardware purchases are required to complete the installation on any standard residential floor surface.

Rather pricey.
Excellent vacuum, but I couldn’t justify the price knowing I have another Miele vacuum that works just as well as this one. My current Miele is 27 years old, works perfectly with all attachments, and only cost $20 several years ago. Hard to spend $500 for what I already own. However, if my current one fails, this will be its replacement.

Close to perfect
This model is among Miele's most recent ones, and benefits from a few small but significant improvements on that account. I'd say that all but one of the components are both beautifully made and beautifully conceived. The floor head initially strikes me as problematic, and for exactly the reason that's suggested by a great many customer reviews of Miele floor heads, which is that when attempting to vacuum even low pile carpet there is a dramatic tendency for the head to essentially glue itself to the carpet. The vacuum power needed to be set on the second lowest of four settings to be able to slide the head over the carpet at all, with either of the two settings of the floor head (carpet or bare floor). So it seems to me that Miele still hasn't figured out how to make a single, multi-purpose floor head, or at least one that isn't electrically powered with a motor in the head to rotate a brush. They do also have air-turbine powered head brushes and models with no rotating brush like the one that comes with the Guard M1. Many types in all. The noise level of this model is even lower than I had hoped and this is one feature that has been further improved - excellent. Also, note that you can replace the default exhaust filter with a separately purchased HEPA filter if that's what you want: 99.999% filtration of the bag plus the HEPA exhaust filter rather than 99.99% filtration of the bag plus the standard, thin, provided, cheaper exhaust filter. This could be important for either allergy issues or safety vacuuming where rodents have made a mess, which can be quite dangerous. Best to lightly spray with dilute chlorine bleach first. There are four exhaust filter grades to choose from. The most basic is the supplied one. Miele desperately needs to improve their documentation to help customers figure out all the variables in their very complex system of models and features. I like this machine a lot. I just need to figure out a better way to vacuum flat surfaces (floors) which are both bare and carpeted. We have almost no high pile or shag rugs (one), so I figured this basic head would be a good choice but I'm concerned that I might never choose to use it on our carpets. Not sure yet. Otherwise close to perfection. One other thing: it's too easy to attempt to insert the bag backwards and not realize it! Oh, one other thing - The cover door for the motor protection filter was stuck closed. It's supposed to snap open when pulling on the handle with modest force but a strong pull didn't to do the trick. There's a slight defect in the mold of one of the two parts where the latch functions. I eventually got it open and used a jeweler's file to very slightly take the edge off the stationary part and now it's fine, but a person could break the cover door trying to overpower the latch. This is a factory defect that's tiny but with potentially very large consequences.

Excellent fit and value - recommended buy
Size: 3+12+12+2+1 pack
I rarely write reviews, but I'm so impressed by the fit and quality of this set that I made an exception. I'd been running my eufy 11S without brushes, and have been cleaning and reusing the filters for a while now and finally decided to buy replacements. The kit came packed well with everything in order and no damage. I replaced all of the worn parts and installed the brushes and did a test run - everything worked great. I expected some fitment issues because I've seen that with other kits, but I had no issues. The fact that you get multiples of almost everything is icing on the cake. Oh, and I wasn't paid or given anything in exchange for this review, as much as that's worth now, haha. I can recommend getting this kit for your robot vacuum, if it's the right set for your model.

Good option for an aftermarket replacement solution.
Size: 3+12+12+2+1 pack
I've been very happy with this product. I think it is a good price point for what is included. Everything was a directly compatible and everything fit as you would expect. The filter quality is good and since there are plenty in the kit I find I change the filters more often which is probably a good thing. I recommed.
