Anthurium lancea var. ecostatum Croat 2009
Die Varietät ecostatum unterscheidet sich von der typischen Varietät von Anthurium lancea durch das Fehlen der hinteren Rippe (daher das Epitheton "ecostatum" = ohne hintere Rippe oder Costa) und durch schmalere, nicht kordierte Blätter sowie durch einen Spadix mit praktisch keinem Stiel. Kolumbien in ca. 1800m Höhe.

Diese Varietät wurde von Sodiroi im Bezirk Cañar in Ekuador gefunden. Leider scheint das Typus Material nicht mehr vorhanden zu sein, so daß zur Zeit keine weiteren Angaben gemacht werden können.

Etymologie: lancea = lanzenförmig
Vermehrung: Teilung
Herkunft: Ekuador, Kolumbien, Peru
Standort: Anthurium lancea wächst terrestrisch an schattigen Stellen und kommt in Höhenlagen von 400 - 2500m vor, Pflanzen aus großen Höhen werden als hartlaubiger beschrieben, während die Arten aus tieferliegenden Gebieten weicher,
glänzender und attraktiver sind.
Anmerkungen: Laut Tom Croat werden die Blätter dieser Art beim Absterben schwarz. Ausnahmen bilden die Pflanzen aus Höhenlagen über 2000m,hier ändert sich die Laubfrom und die Blätter sind gelblich braun beim Absterben. Die Pflanzen besitzen eine wunderschöne, gleichmäßig geriffelte Oberfläche durch die parallel verlaufenden Blattadern, die am gesäumten Blattrand enden.

Well-written and it really laid out all of the details of how this battle unfolded. I listed to the audio-book, and it was helpful to have the PDF to see a map. How the soldiers on each side endured the battles in the Pacific Theater is beyond me. Man's inhumanity to man that result in this battle outlined here is depressing, but also the sacrifice of those called on to endure and suffer through that inhumanity is equally inspiring and humbling to those whose lives are so comfortable in comparison.

If Ww2 interest u at all then u want to read this book. I have read the other books on this subject ( so why read another one?) well what i luv about this book is that because so much time has passed that most all of the people in this book are gone & so much more info has been released about these battles, that the combatants ( especially the higher officers are written about as if they are human (mistakes & warts & all) & not like they were all Bull Halsey type Gods which they were certainly not as in most all the books released within the 1st 30 yrs of the war. This makes for a much different & more interesting story about these battles than even the original books on the subject. You come to understand the where & whyfores better, by knowing the real true strenghts & weakness's & fears that drove these men. Hey they are all the bravest of heroes to me. But the were not perfect, & because of this, mistakes were made, that were really not acknowledged or maybe not even known about in early books on WW2
